Gothland Residency is creating a network of winter artist retreats on the island of Gotland, Sweden. Designed for writers, artists, photographers and other creative minds, the residency offers time and space for focused work during the island's quiet season, when mist unfurls across the meadows, stars brighten the long nights and the breathtaking landscape awakens new ideas. Through a growing network of homes and creative spaces, Gothland Residency is building opportunities for artistic practice, cultural exchange and connection to place.

Based on the peaceful Östergarnslandet peninsula on Gotland's east coast, the residency offers artists a slower pace of life amid fishing villages, forests, limestone cliffs and the Baltic Sea.

Discover Gothland Residency

Gothland Residency works with local property owners, artists and cultural partners to create memorable winter residencies in the Östergarnslandet region of eastern Gotland. Rather than operating from a single location, we build relationships with homes, cottages and creative spaces that reflect the character of the island. Each residency is thoughtfully coordinated to provide artists with the time, place and support they need to pursue their work while experiencing Gotland’s magic.
